SunTrust Park Offers Baseball and A Lot More

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves started the 2017 Major League Baseball in their new home, SunTrust Park, in Cobb County, Georgia, after leaving Turner Field a season ago. We had a chance to visit the new park during a recent Braves series with the New York Mets and here’s what we discovered about the new baseball park.

The deepest part of the 41,149 seat park is center, which is 402 feet from home plate, while the closest is right field, only 325 feet away. We took a walk around the park prior to the game and all of the sight lines are magnificent, from behind home plate to the outfield. The seats are also much closer to the field than the previous home.

If you have the kids at SunTrust Park you will be thrilled, but not as much as they will likely be. The new venue features a kid-friendly area called Hope and Will’s Sandlot, which includes zip-lining for kids and a climbing tower, a first of it’s kind inside of a professional sporting arena.

Perhaps the biggest reason for the organization’s move to Cobb County is called The Battery Atlanta, a 1.5-million-square-foot space that includes everything from fine-dining, shopping, a performance space, hotel rooms and even residential units.

The Coca Cola Roxy is a 3,800 seat theatre inside of The Battery Atlanta. The lineup of coming performances at the theatre includes Atlanta hip-hop artist T.I. on June 18. The Coca Cola Roxy was also open postgame on a recent Friday evening with a DJ and food available.

Ultimately, if you happen to be in Atlanta and decide to catch a game or you are the type of New York Mets fan that likes to see them on the road, SunTrust Park will keep you entertained before, during and after the game. The Mets return to Atlanta June 9-11 (including a doubleheader on June 10) and September 15-17.
