Jalen Brunson is heading back to the All-Star Game.
The Knicks’ captain was named an All-Star starter on Monday, the league announced.
The selection marks Brunson’s third trip to the All-Star Game, all with the Knicks. Brunson is averaging 28.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists on splits of 48.1/38.8/85.2.
Brunson has missed the last two Knicks games with an ankle sprain.
Ten starters were announced, with five in each conference. In the East, Brunson was named a starter alongside Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham, and Philadelphia Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey.
The five starters from the West are Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić, and San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.
A voting formula consisting of fans (50% of the vote), current NBA players (25%), and a media panel (25%) determined the 10 starters.
The remaining seven players from each conference will be selected by the NBA head coaches at a later date.
One of those seven players could be Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, who is attempting to make his sixth NBA All-Star Game. The Knicks have had a pair of All-Stars in the last two games.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will not feature a matchup between the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference. Instead, there will be three 8-man teams: two with U.S. players and one with international players (“Team World”).
The three teams will compete in a round-robin tournament consisting of four 12-minute games.
The Knicks Hit a Rough Patch in the Schedule
The Knicks can’t buy a win.
On December 29, the Knicks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans and moved to 23-9. Since that victory, the Knicks are 2-8, losing their last three contests.
The Knicks’ losing woes started way before Brunson’s injury.
The defense has been one of the biggest issues. The Knicks have allowed 106 points or more in the last 10 games.
With Brunson missing, the Knicks have struggled to replace their star guard’s offensive creation and clutch shooting down the stretch.
Josh Hart, the Knicks’ engine on the court, has been dealing with ankle issues during this skid. Hart has only played three games this month.
Brunson and Hart are listed as questionable for the Knicks’ matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 19.
