New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday’s loss. Here’s the latest update on Brunson’s injury.
Jalen Brunson Injury Update
Brunson sprained his right ankle in the first quarter of last night’s 112-101 loss to the Sacramento Kings.
With the Knicks set to play the Golden State Warriors tonight, the team has ruled Brunson out for the contest.
Brunson finished with four points in five minutes before leaving the game with the injury. Brunson limped off the floor and walked back into the locker room. He never returned.
The Knicks clearly missed Brunson in the lineup, as the team fell behind by more than 20 points in the second half.
New York finished a dreadful 8 of 41 (20%) from behind the arc. It was the Knicks’ first loss to the Kings since March 2023.
Mikal Bridges led the Knicks with 19 points, followed by OG Anunoby (15) and Karl-Anthony Towns (13).
Sacramento’s DeMar DeRozan had a game-high 27 points, while Zach LaVine chipped in 25.
The game marked Mike Brown’s return to Sacramento, where he coached the Kings from 2022 to 2025. Brown led the Kings to the playoffs in his first season, the franchise’s first postseason berth since 2005–06.
It’s unknown how much time Brunson will miss with the injury. Brunson sat out for two games earlier this season with another right ankle sprain.

Entering tonight’s contest against the Warriors, the Knicks (25-15) are in second place in the Eastern Conference, four games back of the Detroit Pistons (28-10).

Jalen Brunson’s All-Star Chances
Brunson’s injury took place on the last day of All-Star voting.
When the NBA revealed the second round of fan voting, Brunson ranked second in the Eastern Conference behind Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The top five players who receive the most votes will be starters in the All-Star Game next month.
Barring an unforeseen collapse, Brunson will make his third consecutive All-Star Game. The guard is averaging 28.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.
In the same reveal, Towns came in at No. 7. It’s unlikely Towns will get into the top five and receive the automatic selection.
Towns could still play his way into a reserve role, voted on by the coaches. Towns is averaging 21.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.
The Knicks will try to get two All-Stars for the third consecutive year, dating back to when Julius Randle was on the team.
