John Harbaugh Meets with Giants’ Brass

The Giants officially interviewed Harbaugh on Wednesday as a candidate to be the next head coach.
An old NFL saying goes, “If you want to hire a candidate, do not let them leave the building without a deal.” That is what the Giants will try to do.

Per SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes, the Giants are making a “massive push” to hire Harbaugh today.
Money does not seem to be an issue during these contract negotiations. Harbaugh was making around $17 to $18 million annually with the Baltimore Ravens. If Harbaugh signs with the Giants, expect his new salary to come in around $20 million.
Wednesday’s meeting marks Harbaugh’s first in-person interview with a team this coaching cycle. Harbaugh previously spoke with the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans, but he has not interviewed inside their facilities.
The Giants are doing whatever it takes to hire Harbaugh today. That includes giving Harbaugh a high salary and allowing him to pick the staff.
If Harbaugh leaves the Giants’ building without a contract, it does not mean he still can’t sign with Big Blue. Harbaugh is a well-respected coach who may want to do his due diligence and honor commitments made to the Falcons and Titans.
Owners John Mara and Steve Tisch are in attendance at the meeting with Harbaugh, along with general manager Joe Schoen.
One of the players brought in to meet with Harbaugh was quarterback Jaxson Dart, who will enter his second season as the starter in 2026. Harbaugh’s thoughts about Dart will play a pivotal role in determining if he coaches the Giants.
If Harbaugh needed some convincing, he got it in the form of Eli Manning and former head coach Brian Daboll, who gave strong recommendations for Dart and the Giants.
What’s Next for John Harbaugh?
As of now, Harbaugh has tentative plans to meet with Titans officials in Baltimore on Thursday. Lots of chatter about Giants "not letting him out of the building." Possible things move quickly with NYG and change other plans, but as of now, again, his plan is to go home tonight.

After an afternoon of meetings, Harbaugh plans to leave the Giants’ facilities later today.
Per ESPN’s Dan Graziano, Harbaugh will fly home to Baltimore and meet with Titans’ officials on Thursday.
Could Harbaugh have a handshake agreement with the Giants? It’s possible, but for now, Harbaugh plans to leave on Wednesday.
We’ll see how the Giants continue their coaching search in the coming days.
