The New York Giants are “all in” on hiring John Harbaugh as the team’s next head coach.
Giants Want John Harbaugh as Next Head Coach
As the Giants search for a new head coach, Harbaugh’s name has catapulted to the top of the candidate list.
Per SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Giants will heavily pursue Harbaugh in the coming days.
Harbaugh reportedly has “strong support” within the Giants’ organization, especially from co-owner Steve Tisch.
The Giants need a complete culture reset, and Harbaugh’s reputation as a builder of culture is exactly what the Giants want right now.
The Harbaugh archetype has succeeded with the Giants in the past. Bill Parcells and Tom Coughlin, two disciplinarians with strong leadership skills, won multiple Super Bowls coaching the Giants.
“He’s a program builder,” a source told Hughes about Harbaugh. “He sets the tone for the entire building. Team-first, tough, detail-driven.”

Harbaugh will be in high demand this coaching cycle.
While nearly every team with a coaching vacancy has shown interest in Harbaugh, the former Baltimore Ravens coach is not expected to interview with many teams. Harbaugh is expected to narrow down his list to three or four teams.
The Atlanta Falcons were the first team to interview Harbaugh on Monday.
The Falcons have several talented players at key positions that could entice Harbaugh to Atlanta. This includes Bijan Robinson and Drake London.
Atlanta is also searching for a new general manager, which could appeal to Harbaugh if he wants to bring in his own guy to run the team.
Meanwhile, the Giants also have several promising players in crucial positions, including Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, Andrew Thomas, Cam Skattebo, and Malik Nabors.
How Harbaugh feels about Jaxson Dart will play a significant factor in luring the coach to New York. Dart showed flashes of greatness during his rookie season. He also played recklessly in certain moments, especially while running the ball.
Hughes reported that the Giants and Falcons are viewed as the two teams in the best position to land Harbaugh.
The next step for the Giants is to bring Harbaugh in for an interview, which is expected to occur this week.
If Not Harbaugh, Then Who?
If the Giants do not hire Harbaugh, the belief is that Kevin Stefanski will be the consolation prize.
Stefanski is a former two-time coach of the year with the Cleveland Browns. Stefanski is an offensive-minded head coach who could help develop Dart into a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback.
So far, the Giants have interviewed Stefanski, Antonio Pierce, Raheem Morris, Vance Joseph, and interim head coach Mike Kafka.
Former Super Bowl-winning coach Mike McCarthy is expected to interview this week.
The Giants have requested interviews with Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, Broncos special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi, and former Giants quarterback and current Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.
