NFL Rumors: Will Former Giants HC Brian Daboll Become Eagles OC?

Former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll could be an option to become the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator.

Brian Daboll Could Be an Option for the Eagles’ OC Job

Daboll should be employed in due time.

Daboll is expected to be one of the names considered for the offensive coordinator position with the Eagles.

On Tuesday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni announced that Kevin Patullo has been removed as the team’s offensive coordinator. Sirianni did not fire Patullo and could find another spot for him within the organization.

The news comes two days after the Eagles lost a home playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round. The Eagles could not capitalize against a banged-up 49ers defense, scoring no touchdowns in the second half of the 23-19 loss.

Daboll has a proven track record of developing quarterbacks. Daboll helped Josh Allen become one of the league’s top quarterbacks. Daboll also coached Daniel Jones to the postseason and aided Jaxson Dart during a promising rookie season.

Daboll previously worked with Jalen Hurts at Alabama during the Crimson Tide’s 2017 season.

The Giants fired Daboll in November after a 2-8 start to the season.

Daboll will have other options for the upcoming season. Due to his offensive specialties, he will be in the running for other OC jobs around the NFL.

The Tennessee Titans requested to interview Daboll for their head coaching vacancy.

Daboll was reportedly extremely high on Titans quarterback Cam Ward during the pre-draft process. The Giants would have taken Ward if they had the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Brian Daboll Aiding Giants in Pursuit of John Harbaugh

Despite his ousting by the Giants, Daboll appears to have no bad blood with the organization.

According to The Athletic’s Ian O’Connor, Daboll has reached out to John Harbaugh, one of the candidates for the Giants’ head coaching job. Daboll has given Harbaugh a “strong recommendation” on Dart and the Giants organization.

Two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning has also reached out to Harbaugh about the Giants’ position.

The Giants are one of the frontrunners to land Harbaugh this coaching cycle. The Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans are also in contention to hire the former Ravens head coach.

The Giants need a culture reset, and Harbaugh is exactly the type of coach to do that. Between his strong player development skills and winning prowess, Harbaugh would be a home-run hire for the Giants.
