Dembele Enters Golden Boot Race After Standout Performance vs Norway
France started strongly against a much-changed Norway side on Friday in their quest for Group I glory.
It was a winner-takes-all scenario and Didier Deschamps’ side were in top form.
Ousmane Dembélé was sensational, grabbing a stunning first-half hat-trick.
The PSG winger opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a clinical finish, added a beautifully bent effort on 20′, and stroked home his third in the 32nd after cutting inside.
His pace, skill, and clinical finishing dismantled Norway’s defense. Thelo Aasgaard pulled one back for Norway in the 21st, but France dominated proceedings.
Demebele’s first-half hat-trick was the quickest in World Cup history by any French player and he continued that dominance into the second half.

The second-half wasn’t as exciting as the first, with only 1 further goal coming.
Although it could have been a totally different story.
Norway were given a penalty early into the second 45 but Jorgen Strand Larson’s effort was tame as his shot was saved by Mike Maignan.
It was a dreadful penalty from the Crystal Palace forward and he was left with his head in his hands.
The game finished 4-1 in Boston, with a comfortable victory in the end for France.
