The bettor in question has been credited as Leo.gartner on social media and is close to claiming one of the biggest bets of this World Cup.
Gartner correctly predicted Ecuador’s 2-1 win over Germany, Ivory Coast’s 2-0 win over Curacao, the Netherlands’ 3-1 win over Tunisia and a 1-1 stalemate between Sweden and Japan.
Their bet now relies on the USMNT beating Turkey 2-1 and if Mauricio Pochettino’s side managed to win by this exact scoreline then Gartner will pick up $316,000.
This comes after an enthusiastic World Cup bettor won $4m during Sweden’s 1-1 stalemate with Japan and continued a trend of huge bets in the 2026 World Cup.
Gartner will be full of nerves and these may be furthered by Christian Pulisic’s absence from the USMNT starting lineup against Turkey.
Folarin Balogun is also out of the first eleven and the USA go into the match as slight underdogs despite a strong start to the competition.

In terms of pure return on investment, another FanDuel user pulled off what many consider the greatest parlay in sports betting history by turning $1.10 into $532,478.
The user put down pocket change on an absurd 23-leg parlay consisting entirely of college basketball Moneylines and point spreads.
Sweating through nearly two dozen games where one single missed free throw or buzzer-beater would have destroyed the ticket, all 23 legs miraculously hit to yield a half-million-dollar payout off a single dollar bill.
Although Gartner’s potential winnings are slightly off these marks, the USMNT could potentially help pull of one of the biggest soccer wagers on the site.
