The Rockland Boulders (15-10) returned home with a win, kicking off a six game homestead with an 8-4 victory over the New Jersey Jackals (12-13). New Jersey grabbed a quick 3-0 lead with a three run homer from Richard Stock in the first inning, but the Boulders got two back right away.
Rockland took the lead for good in the fourth, when John Brontsema drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Adam Ehrlich plated two more with a double. The offensive star for Rockland was leadoff man Ryne Birk, who went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and three RBI’s. J.D. Busfield recovered nicely after giving up the early homer, going six innings and striking out four to pick up his third win of the year for Rockland.
The Boulders will look to record their second straight win when they continue their series with the Jackals tomorrow. First pitch for the contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Palisades Credit Union Park.
