Collin Ferguson’s two-out RBI single, which scored Ryne Birk and broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning, was enough to give the Rockland Boulders a 5-4 victory over the Quebec Capitales at Stade Canac in Quebec City, Canada on Saturday night.
The Boulders bats produced ten hits on the evening, including multi-hit games by Collin Ferguson (2-for-5), Grant Heyman (2-for-4), Adam Ehrlich (2-for-4, 2B) and Ryne Birk (2-for-3, HR).
Starter Justin Valdespina picked up a no-decision, going four innings and giving up 3 hits, 4 runs (2 earned), while walking 2 and striking out 2. The Rockland bullpen was stellar in relief, as Tim Ponto, James Mulry, Nick Kennedy and Robbie Gordon combined to throw five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, a walk and striking out five. Mulry picked up his first win of 2019, while Gordon notched his first save of the season. Reliever Max Kuhns took the loss for Quebec.
Game three of this four-game Memorial Day weekend series will take place in Quebec on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 pm
