Newark Mentoring Movement, an organization with a network of high-quality youth mentoring programs in Newark, is holding its eighth annual charity golf outing on Monday, June 3rd at Bayonne Golf Club in Bayonne, NJ. This outing helps raise critical funds to bring strong and sustainable mentoring programs to Newark’s youth and their families. Working with over 50 programs, NMM’s organizational support and funding has helped programs flourish and expand.
Senator Cory Booker, New York Giants Zak DeOssie and Michael Thomas have teamed up with Newark Mentoring Movement to co-host this year’s event. Other notable attendees include: Justin Tuck, Billy Ard, Jeff Feagles and Antoine Bethea.

To do so, it was decided that NMM would not provide direct mentoring services; rather, NMM would partner with local and national mentoring organizations to empower them to do more in Newark – a leverage model for mentoring! Progress has been impressive, and we are now building on this success and learnings to further improve our model – the 2019 fundraiser is critical to realize this new vision.” – Ronald T. I truthfully would not have gotten to where I am if it wasn’t for some of the extraordinary people I have had mentoring me along the way “ said DeOssie. “As an adult, there is no greater joy than being that mentor yourself. I am thrilled to be co-hosting this event again, and being able to support NMM in their noble goal of connecting youth with life changing mentors.”

At the event, NNM will host a mentee roundtable, where the mentees will meet in small groups with accomplished, inspiring adults to share how mentors helped them in their careers and life. Participants in the roundtable include: Senator Booker, Steve Lefkowitz (Founder, Sagewind Capital), Ethan Medley (NY Giants, Director Community & Youth Relations), Justin Tuck (retired NY Giants, VP Goldman Sachs), Lauran Tuck (Tuck’s R.U.S.H. for Literacy, Fort Lee Board of Education), Paula Tuffin (CCO Better Mortgage Co), Steve Van Kuiken (Senior Partner, McKinsey and Co), Belkis Vasquez- McCall (Partner, McKinsey and Co).
Following the welcome will be the Mentee Golf Clinic, sponsored by United States Pharmacopeia.
Mentees from Butterfly Dreamz, Eagle Academy Newark, I Have A Dream Foundation Newark, Luis Muñoz Marin Elementary School, Sadie Nash Leadership Academy Newark, Schools that Can, and SHE Wins will be in attendance.
