Marshall, Moreno Power Ducks to Victory Over Revs

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 4, 2019) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 8-1 on Saturday night in middle game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

York took a 1-0 lead in the first on Alexi Casilla’s RBI single to right field off Ducks starter Brett Marshall. Long Island responded in the bottom of the first when Lew Ford’s RBI double down the right field line off Revolution starter Dustin Richardson tied the game at one.

It stayed that way until the fifth when Daniel Fields put the Ducks ahead with a solo homer to left field. A three-run sixth inning extended the lead to 5-1. RBI singles by Rando Moreno and Rey Fuentes highlighted the inning. Another three-run frame in the seventh rounded out the scoring. Mike Olt’s sacrifice fly to left, Moreno’s RBI single to right and a fielding error that plated Fields did the damage.

Marshall (1-1) earned the win, tossing five innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out four. Robert Morey (0-2) took the loss in relief, giving up a run on two hits and a walk in one and one-third innings. Richardson lasted three innings, yielding a run on two hits with four strikeouts. Joe Iorio, Vin Mazzaro and Alex Katz combined to pitch four scoreless innings of relief for the Flock.

Moreno led the Ducks offensively with three hits and two RBIs. Every Duck reached base in the game, with eight of the nine batters collecting at least one hit.
