Tony Godsick Influences Throughout Tennis

CHICAGO – Behind every great athlete is a great family. A great team. And for the greatest tennis player of all-time, he has all those boxes checked in mega ways.

Federer has great parents and an adoring wife, along with 2 sets of twins. 2 boys and 2 girls. How could it be anything else?

But in the background may be one of the great agents of our time and the first tennis agent to break into the Forbes top 50 income threshold. His name is tony Godsick and at virtually every Grand Slam and 1000 level tournament, he can be seen sitting prominently next to Federer’s wife Mirka, sporting his trademark big smile and sunglasses.

Godsick is married to former tennis great and ace broadcaster, Mary Joe Fernanzez.

Godsick himself comes from an influential New York family. His brother was one of the key writers of the television success, Veep. In many ways Tony Godsick is the Veep to Roger Federer’s empire, although his official title is CEO of Team*, an agency which he and Federer formed in tandem after they both left IMG in 2013.

Godsick had been with the mega agency for 19 years and has represented Federer since 2005, garnering for him some of the most influential and lucrative deals in agency history. Companies like Rolex and Mercedes and many, many more. And Godsick stood side by side with Federer in forming the Laver Cup, which will take place this weekend in Chicago.

His agency also represents tennis great, Juan Martin Del Potro and is looking to get into both golf and hockey representation deals, at the highest level.

Godsick has told Federer on many occasions that, with his laser intelligence and people skills, he will probably be more successful in life after tennis.Who could argue with him?
