Revolution Sneak By Ducks in Series Finale

(York, Pa., July 15, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at PeoplesBank Park.

The Revolution took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jared Mitchell doubled, moved to third on a sac bunt and scored on a throwing error from Ducks starter Tyler Badamo. York plated another unearned run in the sixth when a two-out fielding error led to an RBI double off the bat of Michael Burgess.

Long Island closed to within 2-1 in the seventh when David Washington slugged a solo home run over the batter’s eye in center field off Revolution starter Mitch Atkins. However, the Ducks left the tying run on base in the seventh and eighth inning.

Atkins (7-3) earned the win, tossing seven innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out four. Badamo (3-6) took the hard-luck loss, yielding two unearned runs on five hits and a walk over five and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts. Grant Sides picked up his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.

Audie Afenir led the Ducks offensively with two hits.
