Early Lead Escapes Ducks Late in Series Finale

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 17, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Ducks opened up the scoring with a three-run third inning. Travis Snider’s RBI double and a two-run double by Ramon Cabrera highlighted the inning.

It stayed that way until the top of the eighth inning when four runs scored for the Barnstormers to put them in front. Blake Gailen’s RBI single, a run-scoring passed ball and a two-run double by Nate Coronado did the damage.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Bennett Parry tossed six shutout innings for Long Island, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out six. Jonathan Albaladejo pitched six innings for Lancaster, yielding three runs on eight hits and a walk with one strikeout. Matt Marksberry (1-1) collected the win after pitched a scoreless seventh inning. Ashur Tolliver (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs (three earned) on two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning. Matt Reynolds picked up his 12th save with a scoreless ninth.

Snider, Jordany Valdespin and Daniel Fields each had two hits for the Flock.
