(York, Pa., June 9, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 4-3 on Saturday night in the third game of a four-game series at PeoplesBank Park.
Long Island jumped in front with a three-run third inning off Revolution starter Robert Carson. Travis Snider’s two-run single through the right side and Lew Ford’s RBI fielder’s choice highlighted the inning.
York rallied back with a run in the fifth and two in the eighth to tie up the game at three. Jared Mitchell’s RBI fielder’s choice off Ducks starter John Brownell and RBI singles by Michael Burgess and Rubi Silva did the damage.
The Ducks took the lead back for good though in the ninth. Ford reached on a fielder’s choice, Anthony Vega pinch ran and stole both second and third base, and Taylor Ard drove him in with a two-out RBI single to left. Francisco Rodriguez then stranded the tying run at second base in the bottom of the ninth to earn the save.
Neither starter factored into the decision. Brownell threw six and two-thirds innings, allowing one unearned run on six hits and three walks while striking out three. Carson lasted five innings, yielding three runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Dennis O’Grady (2-1) picked up the win despite allowing two hits in two-thirds of an inning in relief. Junior Rincon (0-2) took the loss, surrendering the winning run on two hits in one inning. Rodriguez collected his eighth save with a scoreless ninth, striking out two.
Snider led the Flock offensively with two hits and two RBIs.
