Rare Rangers Program Signed by Babe Ruth on Steiner Auctions Block

The perfect storm of superior condition and rarity makes a 1934 New York New York Rangers program autographed by Babe Ruth a true collecting treasure for the advanced hobbyist of “Babe” memorabilia. The rare collectible is on the auction block at Steiner Auctions on line during the Spring Fever Auction 2018 which continues through Saturday, May 5.
The minimum opening bid of $3,000 was placed on the memorabilia piece last week. Visit steinerauctions.com to bid and for more information.
The program is from the January 18, 1934 Rangers vs. Chicago Blackhawks game, the season that the Blueshirts were defending their Stanley Cup championship, is indicated on the program. The Babe Ruth near-perfect pencil signature is “breathtaking, to say the least,” according to the Steiner Auctions site, and measures almost 3″ in length. The autographed program is professionally framed with pinstripe matting. The signature comes with a Letter of Grading & Authenticity from PSA/DNA and Beckett. Beckett has graded the signature a 9 MINT, while PSA/DNA did not grade leaving room for a perfect 10 Grade still an option. A Gem Mint 10 Babe Ruth Autograph cut can fetch in excess of $10,000.
Spirited bidding is expected on this early New York Rangers program signed by Yankees titan Babe Ruth, a rare collectible that ties two great franchises of New York sports.
According to the Steiner Auctions site, “it is assumed that the program has been cut for display purposes although we have not removed the item from the frame and cannot say for certain.”
