The Irish Junior National Baseball Team that will compete in the 18U European Championship, July 9-18 in Grosseto, Italy, will feature numerous Metro New York players on the squad.
Returners from last year’s gold medal winning team include twin brothers Kyle and Kevin Brady (Cornwall, N.Y.), Patrick Dillon (Yonkers, N.Y.), Mark Neville (Yonkers, N.Y.), Liam Nicholson (Stamford, Conn.) and Geoffrey O’Keefe (Bronx).
Newcomers from the region include Michael Cole (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Richard Curran (Wyckoff, N.J.), Gerard Loughran (Carmel, N.Y.), Ciaran McGinnis (Oakdale, N.Y.), Luke Padian (Katonah, N.Y.), Sean Scanlon (New York), Jack Scanlon (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) and Liam Toolan (Irvington, N.Y.).
The team roster is a mix of Irish resident players and Irish-American dual citizens living in the USA. All players are citizens of Ireland. Team Ireland’s opponents in the tournament will include Italy, Germany, Great Britain and others.
