The Rockland Boulders came into tonight’s matchup looking to take the first 2 games of the series and put all the pressure on their opponents the New Jersey Jackals before heading into Game 3 of the semi final. The Boulders carried the momentum from Thursday night’s victory into Game 2 by defeating the Jackals 5-0 in a dominant pitching performance.
Justin Topa was on the mound for the Boulders in Game 2 and was dominant from the very first pitch. Topa was a man on a mission by going the distance and earning the complete game victory. He allowed only 4 hits, 1 BB and struck out 11 batters. David Richardson took the loss for New Jersey. Richardson pitched 7 innings, allowed 3 hits, 3 runs but only was earned, 5 BB’s and 7 strikeouts.
The Boulders hit the run column first when Cody Regis scored on a passed ball that went by Jackals catcher Adam Martin in the 2nd inning. Fast forward to the top of the 4th, the Boulders extended their lead to 3-0 after MIke Montville unleashed a 2 run homerun to give the Boulders some breathing room. In the top of the 9th, the Boulders added 2 more runs including an RBI single by Daniel Arribas.
The Boulders will be coming home to Palisades Credit Union Park tomorrow night or Game 3 against the New Jersey Jackals at 6:30 PM,
