The Rockland Boulders entered the final day of the regular season hoping to sweep the Ottawa Champions in a double header and capture the Can Am division crown. The Boulders were victorious in Game 1 by defeating the Ottawa Champions 5-2.
David Fisher picked up the victory for the Boulders in Game 1 by pitching 5.0 innings, on 5 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, and 5 strikeouts. Phillipe Aumont took the mound for the Champions. Aumont went a complete 7.0 innings, allowed 7 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs, 4 BB, and 6 strikeouts.
The Boulders hit the boards first by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Mike Fransoso and Joe Moloney scored on a walk and a wild pitch. Cody Regis later scored on a Jared McDonald RBI single.
In the bottom of the 6th the Ottawa Champions scored 2 runs including an RBI by Ricky Oropesa.
In the top of the 7th, 2017 Canadian American League Home Run Champion Joe Moloney delivered once again by hitting a 2 run home run to pad the lead. This was Moloney’s 35 Home Run of the season and reached triple digits in RBI’s with 101. Boulders closer Mayckol Guaipe earned the save in the bottom half. He pitched 1 inning and struck out 2.
Game 2 of the Boulders doubleheader vs the Ottawa Champions was cancelled due to inclement weather and no make up day was determined.
