Bees Outslug Ducks In Series Finale

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 4, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the New Britain Bees 8-2 on Monday afternoon in the finale of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

New Britain took advantage of a first inning error and plated a run on a two-out RBI double by Jon Griffin. Three more runs in the second on a solo home run to left field by Conor Bierfeldt and a two-run homer to center by Michael Crouse off Ducks starter Jake Dunning extended the lead to four.

The Ducks got on the scoreboard in the second when Ruben Gotay crushed a solo homer to left off Bees starter Greg Nappo. However, a two-out, three-run home run to right by Jamar Walton in the fifth pushed their advantage to 7-1.

Angelo Songco gave Long Island its second homer of the day with a solo blast to right-center in the sixth. New Britain rounded out the scoring in the ninth on Nick Murphy’s RBI single to center.
