Ducks Blank Bees To Even Series

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 2, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the New Britain Bees 2-0 in a rain-shortened contest on Saturday night, the second game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

Long Island opened the scoring in the first inning against Bees starter Jonathan Pettibone. Following a walk by Delta Cleary Jr. and a single by Marc Krauss, Angelo Songco delivered a two-out RBI single up the middle for the game’s first run.

The Ducks doubled their lead in the fourth. After Giovanny Alfonzo reached on a fielder’s choice and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Dan Lyons drove him home with a two-out RBI single to left field. Both sides were retired in order in the fifth inning before inclement weather forced the game to be called following a 38-minute rain delay.

Ducks starter Matt Larkins (9-6) earned the win, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six batters. Pettibone (2-7) took the loss, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks over four innings with two strikeouts.

Lyons led the Flock with his RBI single and a walk.
