NY Sportsday columnist Rich Mancuso was awarded Sunday afternoon for his efforts in assisting the visiting baseball team, Liga Los Trinitarios of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The team of youngsters aged 7-18 years old for the second straight year visited the Bronx and played organized baseball games at the Castle Hill Little League Field and at nearby parks in the borough and in Manhattan.
With fundraising efforts in the Dominican Republic, coaches and parents were able to organize the trip.
Mancuso, always an advocate for youth was made aware again of their visit from the TM Baseball Training Academy and a parent Miry Correa. His longtime relationships with the Yankees and Mets enabled the youngsters again to visit both ballparks and see the Yankees and Mets on the field at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field.
“They have now become a part of my extended family” Mancuso said, “And I look forward to seeing them again next year.”
