MIAMI – New York baseball fans have flooded the 2017 MLB All-Star game with some of the best talent in Major League Baseball.
A total of six New York Baseball players will be stepping on the field at Marlins Park on Tuesday.
The game will feature Yankees Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Dellin Betances, Starlin Castro, Luis Severino, and Mets outfielder Michael Conforto. The New York Yankees are one of three teams sending five baseball players to Miami.
Tuesday night’s game will be managed by Chicago Cubs manager Joe Madden and Cleveland Indians bench coach Brad Mills. Mills will be filling in for Terry Francona after Francona underwent a cardiac ablation procedure to correct a cardiac arrhythmia.
Washington National’s Max Scherzer will be starting for the National League team. When Scherzer was informed he was the starter he was grateful for the opportunity.
“When you have a manager say, “We’re going to give you the ball,” it’s icing on the cake. For me to have the opportunity to go out there and represent the National League, this is stuff you never forget,” Scherzer said.
The American League team will have Boston Red Sox’s Chris Sale on the hill for them. Sale has made six All-Star game appearances and the value of starting yet again, is greatly appreciated by the starter.
“I’m very appreciative of it. I love—a lot of hard work and dedication goes into this, not only on my end but the people I am surrounded by.” Sale gave further credit it, “The people in my corner, my catcher, my teammates, my coaching staff.”
When both managers released their starting line-ups, the talk of the room was Yankees slugger Aaron Judge. Judge has continued to impress his peers after hitting an impressive .329 batting average in the first half of the season.
“Hitting third is on of the best stories in Major League Baseball I think so far in the first half, Aaron Judge.” Manager Brad Mills explained his decision, “ Where was I going to hit him in the lineup? It was a situation you wanted him to hit in the first inning because of the story he been all year long.”
The 2017 MLB All-Star Game will be a battle of spectacular pitching and hitting. The Thursday night game will kick off at 8pm EST.
