Nix Blanks Ducks

(Sugar Land, Texas, June 27, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Sugar Land Skeeters 7-0 on Tuesday night in the fifth game of a seven-game series at Constellation Field.

Skeeters starter Michael Nix (6-5) turned in a terrific outing to earn the win. The right-hander tossed a complete game shutout, yielding just two hits and one walk while striking out eight batters.

Sugar Land plated six two-out runs in the second inning to account for the majority of their offense. Albert Cordero’s run-scoring double, RBI singles from Josh Prince and Kevin Ahrens, and a three-run home run to left field by Anthony Giansanti did the damage.

Ducks starter Dennis O’Grady (3-5) suffered the loss, giving up six runs on seven hits and four walks in six innings with two strikeouts. Tyler Levine and Roman Gomez each pitched an inning of relief for the Flock.

The Ducks and Skeeters continue their seven-game set on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT from Constellation Field.
