Pomona, NY – The Rockland Boulders will be hosting the Dominican Republic National Team at Palisades Credit Union Park for a historic three game series Father’s Day Weekend. The Dominican Republic National Team, fresh off their appearance in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, are set to play Friday, June 16th at 7:05pm, Saturday, June 17th at 6:30pm, and Sunday, June 18th at 2:00pm as part of the 2017 Caribbean Challenge presented by Sprint.
”It is an honor to welcome the Dominican Republic National Team to Palisades Credit Union Park as part of the 2017 Caribbean Challenge presented by Sprint,” said Ken Lehner, President. “This will be the third nation to play against the Boulders in Rockland joining Cuba and Japan. We hope that baseball fans throughout metro New York realize this is a special opportunity to watch some of the most talented baseball players in the world right here in their own backyard. We know a big contingency of fans will be attending from Haverstraw and we encourage others to join them. The games will be a strong test for your first place Boulders.”
Not only will there be some exceptional baseball being played, a celebratory atmosphere will be in store all weekend long. On Friday and Saturday night, the first 2,500 fans will receive a set of green platanos shaped bang sticks, compliments of Presidente Beer, which has become an iconic brand that represents Dominicans both in their country and abroad. On Saturday, the first 1,000 fans will also receive a limited addition collector’s edition coin of Stephen Cardullo, the first Boulder in the team’s history to reach the Major Leagues. This marks the seventh consecutive season that Clarkstown Coin and Jewelry has featured a player or moment in Boulders Baseball history on a collector’s coin. In addition, the ever-popular post-game fireworks extravaganza presented by Rockland Nissan will cap the evenings. For all the fans who love to dance, there will be a pre-game concert featuring award winning international pop and Latin pop recording artist Melissa Otero starting at 4:30pm, as well as a post-game party with the Rockland county natives, “The Bounce Band”. On Father’s Day, the first 1,250 fans will receive a baseball, compliments of Palisades Credit Union. After the game, fans are invited to stick around to have a post-game catch on the field, as well as enjoy another concert with Melissa Otero who will feature her hits Angels and Demons, With You, Return, Rising and No Soy Un Angel among others.
Part two of the 2017 Caribbean Challenge will take place on June 27th, 28th and 29th when the Cuban National Baseball Team returns for the second time to Rockland to face the Boulders.
