11th Annual Heroes, Heart and Hope Gala Set for June 13

Twenty-four years ago, The Challenged Athletes Foundation was created by Jeffrey Essakow, Bob Babbitt and Rick Kozlowski to help one injured friend. That year they raised $49,000. Since then the Challenged Athletes Foundation has raised over $80,000,000 to and distributed 16,000 grants to individuals.

The 11th Annual Heroes, Heart and Hope Gala Benefitting the Challenged Athletes Foundation is set for June 13, with festivities beginning at 6 p.m. at the New York Hilton Midtown.

This year alone, The Challenged Athletes Foundation sent out 2,448 grants totaling over $3. 7 million dollars to help buy the adaptive equipment and provide the training and travel costs necessary for challenged athletes to stay in the game of life through sport. When someone has a traumatic injury, or has congenital issues, health insurance carriers consider sports equipment ‘luxury items.’ All of us know that that being able to exercise and pursue your athletic dreams is an essential part of life and needs to be supported. Which is why this cause and this event were created. Join host Scott Stackman and the Challenged Athletes Foundation on Tuesday June 13th for another amazing evening.

This year’s honoree is Michael Fisch of American Securities LLC. Featured athletes include quadriplegic air rifle standout Lance Weir, 7-year-old quadruple amputee Chase Merriweather and legally blind triathlete Katie Kelly and her guide Michellie Jones.
