Quebec Cools Off The Boulders With 5-2 Win

The Boulders suffered their second straight loss of the season to fall to 7-2 on the season after a 5-2 defeat to the Quebec Capitales. Rockland got off to a rough start as starting pitcher CJ Riefenhouser gave up a leadoff homerun to Max Tissenbaum to start off the scoring for the night and put the Capitales up 1-0. In the second inning, Quebec would score again via an RBI single from Taylor Oldham to bring home Marcus Knecht, who walked earlier in the inning and advanced to third on a double by Adam Ehrlich.

Rockland would battle back to score in the bottom of the inning against Quebec’s Brett Lee on a single by Cody Regis. The previous batter, Joe Maloney, bunted to get on base and would then steal second to get himself into scoring position for Regis’s hit.

Both Riefenhouser and Lee would settle in for the third and fourth inning, but the Capitales offense would get going again in the fifth with a single and two walks to load the bases with one out. James McOwen would then come to the plate to drive in a run with a groundout that would double Quebec’s lead at 3-1.

Relief pitcher Thomas Lawrence would relieve Riefenhouser in the sixth but the Capitales scored again on a double by Tissenbaum to drive in Ehrlich for his second RBI of the day. The Boulders answered in the bottom of the inning to make the score 4-2 thanks to a second RBI of the game for Regis that brought home Maloney who doubled earlier in the inning.

The Capitales would seal the deal with a homerun from Yurisbel Gracial in the ninth inning to make it a three-run game and give the Boulders their second loss of the season and second in a row. After starting the season 7-0, the Boulders will look to bounce back tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. against the Capitales.
