PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (May 26, 2017) – Yoenis Cespedes began a rehab assignment with St. Lucie and helped the Mets beat the Clearwater Threshers 5-2 on Friday at First Data Field.
Cespedes (hamstring) went 0 for 2 at the plate with a walk and a run. He played six innings in left field and caught the one ball that was to him.
Cespedes started a two-out rally in the first inning when he drew a free pass on five pitches. Patrick Mazeika followed with a wall-scraping double to right field. Cespedes chugged around the bases and scored easily to make it 1-0.
