Melville Mows Down Revs In Series Opener

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 16, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 2-1 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

Both of Long Island’s runs came in the bottom of the first inning against Revolution starter Steve Janas. A sacrifice fly to center field off the bat of Delta Cleary Jr. and a solo home run to right-center by Angelo Songco highlighted the scoring.

After being held off the scoreboard for the first five innings, York plated an unearned run in the sixth on an RBI single to left by Joel Guzman. The Revolution put the tying run in scoring position in both the seventh and ninth innings, but they could not pull even.

Ducks starter Tim Melville (1-2) earned the win with five shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out three. Janas (1-3) took the loss, surrendering two runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts in seven innings. David Aardsma collected his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth, striking out two.

Songco led the Flock offensively with a pair of hits.
