(York, Pa., May 3, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 8-5 on Wednesday night in the nightcap of a day/night doubleheader and finale of a four-game series at PeoplesBank Park. Long Island took the opening game of the twinbill 7-2 earlier in the day.
The Ducks erupted for three runs in the first inning off Revolution starter Steve Janas. An RBI single by Angelo Songco and a two-run home run to left-center field off the bat of Nolan Reimold highlighted the scoring. Another run in the third on an RBI infield single from Cody Puckett extended the lead to four.
Long Island doubled their lead to 8-0 with four runs in the fourth inning. Consecutive RBI singles from Delta Cleary Jr., Songco and Marc Krauss, along with a sac fly off the bat of Puckett, did the damage. York got on the scoreboard with single runs in the fourth and fifth on an RBI single by Luis Alen and a solo homer to left from Bryan Pounds.
The Revolution tried to complete the comeback in the eighth when they scored three runs on an RBI double by Michael Burgess and a two-run single from Alen. However, they would get no closer.
Ducks starter Tyler Levine (1-0) dazzled to earn the victory, tossing seven innings of two-run ball, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five. Janas (1-2) suffered the loss, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits and a two walks in three and one-third innings with four strikeouts. Tyler Wilson tossed a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two, to pick up his first save of the year.
Puckett led the Flock with three hits and two RBI, while Songco and Reimold each added two hits and two RBI.
Following a day off, the Ducks return home on Friday to kick off a three-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It will be a Fowl Pole Friday at the Duck Pond, and if a select Ducks player hits a home run off of one of the foul poles during the game, one lucky fan will win $50,000. In addition, a Blue Crabs player will be selected as the Pizza Hut K-Man of the game. If that player strikes out, fans will receive a special offer for a FREE 1-Topping Personal Pan Pizza at a participating Pizza Hut location. Right-hander Tim Melville gets the start for the Ducks against Blue Crabs righty Brian Grening.
