Omaha, Neb. – Junior Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 27 points and in the process eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark, but the Seton Hall men’s basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Creighton squad that made 57 percent of its field goal attempts, as the No. 10 Bluejays defeated the Pirates, 89-75, Wednesday at CenturyLink Center.
Carrington became the 41st student-athlete in Seton Hall history to reach 1,000 career points. It was his seventh 20-point effort of the season and third in his last four games. It’s also the second consecutive game that he’s scored 27 points against Creighton, dating back to the 2016 BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals.
Junior Desi Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) added 24 points and made five of six three-point attempts. Junior Angel Delgado (Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic) recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds to mark his seventh consecutive double-double for the Pirates, who fell to 10-3 on the young season and dropped their BIG EAST opener for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
Maurice Watson, Jr., led Creighton with 21 points and 10 assists.
