Yankees Sign Matt Holliday For DH Role

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD – The New York Yankees kicked of their winter meetings in Washington D.C. with the signing of Matt Holliday., who reportedly inked a one-year, $13 million contract with the Yankees late-Sunday evening. The deal is pending a physical.

Holliday managed to work his way through a thumb injury in 2016 while hitting .246/.322/.461 with 20 home runs in 110 games. . Holliday landed on the free agent market after declining his $17 million option with the Cardinals.

While Holliday has played 1698 out of 1772 career games in left field, he fits in perfectly for the Yankees DH position.  This now allows the Yankees to focus mainly on pitching during these winter meetings.
