Noah Rubin and Jamie Loeb have hit the tennis tour since turning pro last year, and each has had a taste of US Open action. Rubin made his main draw debut there in 2014 after winning the Wimbledon Junior and USTA Boys 18 title, while Loeb earned a berth in last year’s event following an NCAA championship.
Now, the two John McEnroe Tennis Academy products are teaming up in the mixed doubles competition, earning a wild card entry in to the draw. They will play their first match today, fourth match after 12:30 p.m. on Court 9 (weather permitting), against the duo of Gabriela Dabrowski (CAN) and Rohan Bopanna (IND).
Court 9 is streamed live on ESPN3, for customers of cable and internet providers that offer ESPN3 or WatchESPN.
The Long Islander Rubin had his first Grand Slam win earlier this year, topping 18th-ranked Benoit Paire of France in straight sets. He is now ranked at No. 193 in singles on the ATP World Tour.
Loeb, from Ossining, N.Y., carries a current ranking of 220, and recently had one of her best results, a semifinal finish at the ITF event in Lexington, Ky. in July after winning the ITF tournament in El Paso, Texas, in June.
