Registration is still open for the T M Baseball Academy annual Summer camp and team experience that begins Monday June 27th and runs until August 19th at the Castle Hill Little League Field on Commerce Avenue.
The camp runs Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm. In case of inclement weather all sessions for youngsters are held at the T M Baseball Academy, 1371 Seabury Avenue. New elements to the camp this summer include players divided into team groups and each receiving a team jersey with their favorite number. Monday-Thursday will be game prep days and training and every Friday teams will compete in a game format.
“Each year we try and provide the best training for youngsters and give them the experience they need to move on with their skills and of course it’s summer so the camp experience and interaction with others is always something that gets better and better,” said Tony Melendez who founded T M Academy ten years ago and is a certified baseball and sports conditioning specialist with over 25 years of experience with instruction in hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and conditioning.
Melendez will be assisted by instructional staff at T M who are also certified and also have playing experience on the high school and college level. “Our camps are always a homerun,” said Melendez.
Events at the camp include a home run derby, base relays, and much more. There will be field trips on the 4th and and 8th weeks of the camp and no camp date will be held on the July 4th holiday. In addition, each camper who registers for six or more weeks will get free Yankees tickets.
Camp fundamentals will once again be taught in hitting, fielding, base running skills, pitching and catching, defense and mechanics, strength and conditioning, and team play. Parents over the years have commented, “There are great memories. It keeps the kids busy and safe.”
Clinics are also planned and the New York Yankees are scheduled to bring two of their players to conduct a session during a day session of the camp with the date to be announced.
