LIU Beats UMass Lowell with Balanced Attack

The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds put up 47 points in the first half on the way to a 84-72 win over UMass Lowell on Thursday night.

Iverson Fleming had a big night, as he led the Blackbirds with 17 points on 7-for-14 from the field and 3-for-7 from behind the arc, along with five assists, two rebounds, and a steal.

Joel Hernandez and Jerome Frink had 16 points each. Hernandez shot 7-10 from the field, 1-2 on threes, and eight rebounds. Frink shot 5-9 from the field, made both of his three-point attempts, and had eight rebounds.

Aakim Saintil had 13 points (3-7 FG, 2-5 on threes) off the bench, with six assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

LIU Brooklyn is now 4-2 on the season and 3-0 at home. Their next game is an inter-borough battle, as they travel to Rose Hill in the Bronx to take on Fordham, who is coming off a win over St. John’s on Wednesday night.
