ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL XXV CHAMPIONS
In 1990, the Giants won their first 10 games and finished the regular season with a 13-3 record. They routed the Chicago Bears in an NFC Divisional Playoff Game, 31-3. The following week, Matt Bahr’s 42-yard field goal as time expired gave the Giants a 15-13 victory over the two-time defending champion 49ers in San Francisco in the conference championship game. The Giants won their second title in five seasons when they defeated the Buffalo Bills, 20-19, in the Super Bowl. The 1990 Giants featured two current members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, head coach Bill Parcells and linebacker Lawrence Taylor. Quarterback Phil Simms started the first 14 games before he suffered a foot injury and was relieved by Jeff Hostetler. The team also included running back Ottis Anderson, the Super Bowl MVP, plus Carl Banks, Pepper Johnson and Leonard Marshall on defense.
