New York City Football Club practiced at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday afternoon ahead of their game on Saturday night against Sporting Kansas City.
NYC FC Midfielder Mix Diskerud said of Yankee Stadium, “It’s great, it sold out last time, it was an amazing experience, and hopefully it’s going to sell out again. It was on fire, I mean, the crowd was amazing, we could hear them throughout the whole game, and the second half, it took off and it felt like we were feeding off them. It was entertaining for us and hopefully for them as well.
Diskerud said of how many times the team has actually been at Yankee Stadium and if it is starting to feel like home, “This is my third time here, and second time at practice. It’s starting to feel like home, getting to know the people around here, who work here and stuff, it’s fun. I mean, it’s Yankee Stadium, it’s historic and it’s incredible to be a part of this.”
Mix said of this team starting to click three games into the season, “We’re getting to know each other more and more for every week, our strengths and our weaknesses of course as well. We don’t want to reveal that to the other team, but it’s nice to know. We’re getting together, we’re hanging out more, the chemistry on and off the field is getting better, of course, there’s going to be some ups and downs, but I think we’re on the arrow that’s pointing upwards.”
