Tennis Star James Blake & Namesake Foundation To Host Poker Tournament For Cancer Research

The James Blake Foundation (JBF) is pleased to announce that tonight, the organization will again host its annual Playing for a Cure poker event at the Soho House in New York City. An exclusive Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament, Playing for a Cure will feature appearances by American tennis star and JBF co-founder James Blake, as well as other leading members of the sports, entertainment, and business communities. The event will benefit the James Blake Foundation, which supports early detection cancer research.

James’ father, Thomas Blake Sr., lost his battle with gastric cancer in 2004. Since 2008, the Foundation has supported the efforts of the Thomas Blake Sr. Memorial Research fund, which was launched in memory of James’ father and is dedicated to the early detection of cancers commonly discovered in later stages. in 2013, the Foundation surpassed the $1 million dollar mark in total funds raised for the fight against cancer.

Last year’s event featured appearances by Serena Williams, Paul Pierce, Sam Querrey, Irv Gotti, Ethan Zohn, Alycia Quarles and Diem Brown.
