Yogi Berra Museum To Host Sports Business Program For Students August 11-13

For high school and college students seeking insights for a successful career in sports, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center and Lunar Sports will be presenting a three-day Sports Business Academy (SBA) from Aug. 11-13.

Each day, the SBA will feature highly accomplished executives from different areas of the multi-billion dollar sports industry, providing necessary info about careers in media, leagues/franchises, facilities, marketing/advertising/sponsorships, player representation and event planning.

All sessions will be held at the Museum, situated on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, N.J. Through lectures and interactive exercises, the SBA will also offer practical resources for students including help with college applications, internships, etc.

“This is a unique opportunity for students to get a real-time, insider-view of the business of sports,” said Pat Capra, president of Lunar Sports, a New Jersey based sports marketing and athlete representation firm. “The earlier students attain that knowledge, the greater their advantage they will have.”

Some of the SBA’s guest speakers include: Ernie Accorsi, former New York Giants general manager and NFL executive, Brian Cull, NHL VP of Integrated Marketing, Brian Dailey, Showtime Sports VP of Digital Media; Greg King, New York Yankees Assistant Director of Marketing & Advertising and Kevin Manahan, NJ.com Sports Director.

Registration for the three-day academy (from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day), is $275 if registered before July 28, 2014.
