Senior forward Maurice Barrow (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) scored a team-high 15 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead the Fairfield University men’s basketball team to a 73-64 win over Bucknell University on the road at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa. on Saturday. Barrow reached his prestigious milestone on a three-point field goal with two minutes remaining in the first half.
The Stags have won two of their last three contests.
Barrow added five rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 34 minutes of work.
Fairfield trailed only once in the game at 21-20 with 3:12 remaining in the opening half. Barrow made a three-point field goal to put the Stags back in front at 23-21. Bucknell would tie the game at 23-23 before Marcus Gilbert made a basket with 1:39 on the clock to give Fairfield the lead for good.
Fairfield lifted its record to 3-9. Next up for the Stags is Marist College on January 2.
Amadou Sidibe (Bronx, N.Y.) played nine minutes and secured two rebounds to help the Stags’ cause.
