Nathan’s Famous held a grand re-opening of their flagship location on Surf and Stillwell avenues on Thursday at noon. The opening was signified by a cutting of a link of hot dogs instead of traditional ribbon.
Nathan’s had been closed since October 2012, when they suffered significant damage from Hurricane Sandy.
Nathan’s underwent a complete renovation to restore the landmark to its glory. There is a new interior to reflect the historic atmosphere and to open up more space to accommodate customers.
The menu has not changed, but there is a new addition to it that really links it to its past. Nathan’s has opened a clam bar on the Stillwell Avenue side, the first time it will have this feature since the 1950s. It will include clams, oysters, and other seafood.
