The Joe Moorhead era will officially begin at Fordham University when the football Rams play host to Lock Haven on Thursday night, August 30, at 7:00 PM at historic Jack Coffey Field on the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx.
Fordham named the fourth alumnus in university history to steer the program, and the first to do so since Jim Lansing from 1966-71. Moorhead was the Rams’ quarterback from 1992-95. He brings 14 years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Connecticut over the past three years. His many achievements include serving as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator in 2006 for the Akron Zips, en route to the school’s first-ever Mid-American Conference Championship, as well as a nomination for the Frank Broyles Award in 2009, presented annually to the Top Assistant Coach in the NCAA FBS.
He also has Patriot League experience, serving as an assistant at Georgetown for four seasons from 2000-2003, where he had stints as the running backs coach, quarterbacks coach and the offensive coordinator, in his final year.
Fordham’s 2012 schedule following Lock Haven includes: September 8 @ Villanova; September 15 vs. Cornell; September 22 @ Columbia; September 29 @ Lehigh; October 6 vs. Georgetown; October 13 @ Cincinnati; October 27 @ Holy Cross; November 3 @ Bucknell; November 10 vs. Lafayette; November 17 vs. Colgate.
