Jay Cutler has looked like a Bears bust in most games this season. This week against St. Louis he should show what the Bears paid for. St. Louis’s Pass defense has given up 15 passing TDs while only sacking the QB 18 times and intercepting 8 passes. While not a solid basis for starting one QB over another, I feel that Cutler has to use this game to redeem himself in the eyes of Chicago fans. I started to go with C. Palmer again this week but decided not to double up, he does have a great match up though.
Couple the match up against the Oakland Raiders with the fact that QB Ben Roethlisberger may not play, and you should get a great stat line for Rashard Mendenhall. The Raiders have given up more rushing TDs than any other defense, and are second in average rush yardage given up with 160 yards per game. Whether Big Ben plays or not Mendenhall should be leaned on heavily and produce. The Bears Matt Forte is also up for one of his few awesome games this season.
Every Fantasy Football advisor will be advising this so I might as well follow suit. With DeSean Jackson out this weekend it looks like Jason Avant of the Eagles has started to step up his game at the perfect time. The last few weeks Avant has actually been playing better than Jackson. It’s only Jackson’s big plays that make him the first Eagles receiver mentioned. The Falcons defense that Avant will be playing this weekend is not very good on the backend. Macklin will be the deep threat but Avant should double him in touches. Any Minnesota and Cincinnati receiver should also be a viable play this weekend.
I hate picking an Oakland Raider but TE Zach Miller has been a Beast since QB Bruce Gradkowski took over for the team. While Pittsburg is a formidable defense it is still a 3-4 defense and therefore susceptible to the TE. Miller is Oakland greatest weapon and will be called on throughout this game. Kevin Boss of the Giants and Jaguars Mercedes Lewis also have good potential this weekend.
The San Diego Chargers is probably the defensive play of the week. The Chargers face the Cleveland Browns this weekend who are composed of a short armed QB, a backup RB and a Stable of number 3 receivers, but they do have extra draft picks. San Diego does have to travel across the country but there is no way they stumble after just taking the division lead from Denver. The Bears also have a nice match up this weekend but I’m not sure if their injury riddled LB corps can take advantage of it.
Last Weeks Favorite Five
