Giants Ship Shockey To The Saints

Ever since the Super Bowl, the rumors flowed about Jeremy Shockey. And now, the speculation has become fact.

Shockey is now a former New York Giant being shipped away to the New Orleans Saints for a second and fifth round pick. Before the draft back in April, the Saints offered the same deal, but the Giants held off. Now the controversial tight end will bring his game to the Big Easy.

It also means he rejoins former Giants offensive coordinator Sean Payton, who was with Big Blue, during Shockey’s rookie season

In his six years in New York, the 27 year-old accumulated 371 catches for 4,228 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also appeared in four pro bowls. But his tendency to open his mouth at the wrong time and his unwillingness to work with Eli Manning in the offseason, put off the Giants.

Then last year, he suffered a broken leg in Week 14 against the Redskins, which allowed rookie Kevin Boss to develop during the playoffs.

And ultimately made Shockey expendable.
