I saw today that the Coupons gave 5K to deblasio the day before he dropped out of the race.
“President Obama is a personal friend of mine,” said Rickles. “He was over to the house yesterday, but the mop broke.”

    It's early!!!

Its this kinda stuff that just drives you insane when they end up letting Wheeler walk - "so they can have funds to sign relievers"

https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/ - keep in mind that's not deducting the insurance money / deals they worked out with Cess, Wright, or the cash they got back for Cano which tallies up to around 40-50 mil...meaning their active payroll was really below the league Min. Look at the 25 man payroll which does still include Cess for a slightly more accurate view

        Going into next year -
https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll/2020/ - 10th and keep in mind thats with teams letting all their FAs walk and again still having Cess and Wright (27 & 12)

My guess is they are not going to let that payroll get much over 160....so they've got about 35 mil to work with this offseason. Arb will probably take close to 10 mil of that. Contract raises another 5-10 mil. So they've got maybe 15-20 mil to get a 5th starter, fix the pen, get a CFer.... No reason why they shouldn't be pushing 180-190 for a payroll given that ~40 mil of it probably wont even play for them

And in the meanwhile formerly well off New York retirees are living in squalid nursing homes because they woke up broke when the Madoff/Wilpon conspiracy came to light.

But.... But... Letst's not forget that the insurance policies for the cripples do cost some money..... Lol

I do believe you are in the ballpark of what the available budget will be this offseason, but it's probably closer to the 15 mil.... Which is why we better still continue to brace ourselves because Brody is gonna have to try and get creative, and he'll probably Rob Peter to pay Paul by trading away more prospects... But I'm numb to the whole pay roll thing because I'm used to it already.... I can't wait to hear next offseason though the excuses when cess does come off the books.

I was even conceding not going crazy this offseason spending wise, the bone that I wanted thrown to me was a competent top rate manager in Girard, and then I'm gonna even give me that... @$$holes!!
