Sadly this is exactly it....tho I expect they won't even bother to sign someone and just stick Lugo there which I think might be an even bigger waste than buying some shitty 5th starter given the complete lack of upper level depth in the minors. They'll then panic mid-season when Lugo has proven ineffective and/or unable to go more than 5 innings on regular basis while the pen continues to suck and sell off more assets for another starter (who will just be Stroman's replacement for 2021 when they don't want to pay him either).

This *should* be a stupidly easy offseason for this club - just sign Wheeler (or an equiv #3 type starter - Odorizzi for example) and get like 2 guys for the pen. yeah they probably should do more than that to seriously contend, but just those few things will help tremendously..... Waiting to see how they'll f this up.

Well we know that ain’t happening. I was driving when the press conference started and WFAN was carrying it. I get home put o the MET channel SNY. Surely they are covering the Mets press conference after the firing of their manager. Nope. Unreal
