I got the next one KO.
You can call BS all you want....I knew where it was going from the get-go.

    Funny stuff.....MOFO HOF candidate, IMO.

KO, I tend to agree with you more often than not, and my general impression is that you're an intelligent person. So, I have to ask, do you really think that Delgado hates this country?
Of course he does. And it's not like he's the only one. He just has a hard time keeping it to himself. I'd frankly respect him a whole lot more if he was honest about it ("I hate this country and all it stands for, but hey, the money's great"), instead of playing little games with things we tend to hold sacred.

We need to start keeping a Red List around this place.

        Something I don't understand.

Delgado does something on his own, not disrespectful, and that mirrors the way that at least 70% of this country is thinking. But OMG it becomes news. So he is the target of absolutely vicious and hateful comments by some MOFO'ers.
If he was actually standing for the anthem while intentionally trying to hang his cap on his schlong, you don't find that disrespectful?

Okay. Not commenting on your position specifically KO but "we" who? Have you ever watched the good "patriotic Americans" in the stands during the Anthem? A percentage of them either don't get to their feet at all or do so well into the song, half don't sing and most aren't paying the slightest attention to the flag or what they're half-assing their way through.

Let's not play dumb like Floyd and act like I'm being KingOlerud, the Elbow Nazi.

He hates this country. But he loves playing his beisbol in it. He is the height of excrement. End.

Anybody who doesn't stand for our anthem and have at least the decency to put their beer down and shut their mouth is an *******, whether they're a Repub, Dem, or whatever.

And yes, you should do the same when Canada's anthem is played, etc. It takes a couple minutes to show a little respect.

Agreed. But the behavior I mentioned is typical to what I've seen in the stands. And there's something else that bugs me while on the subject...the widespread cheering that begins as the last line or two of the Anthem is being sung. It isn't a run-up to a freaking team cheer. Wait till it's over.

Although I will admit to tying my shoes and grabbing some Diet Coke when Venezula's national anthem was played during Hugo Chavez's visit to Shea 8 years ago.

Anyway I think a lot of people are missing KO's point. It's not about people on line at the concessions or driving their cars when the Anthem is being sung, it's about one guy in the middle of a ceremony thinking he's above it. The focus of the Opening Day festivities is not me sitting at my desk in my office, someone trying to find a parking space at flushing or someone standing online for a pretzel. The focus is on the people on the field, the players dressing in their clean uniforms and standing at attention on the first & third base lines.

And I agree with Mule (provided they don't sit there and play every National Anthem under the sun including ones honoring would be socialist dictatorships for 5 hours) Folks who sit there and and can't stop what they're doing, stand (provided they can do so) and respect the National anthem are *******s.

And that certainly is at least true for a guy who's part of the whole focus of the ceremony and I don't believe it's playing American SuperFan to point that out.
