  • A little Johnny Cash parody to lighten the mood.

Well, you wonder why I always wear a mask,
Why I don’t cry 1st amendment like an ass
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the mask that I have on.
I wear the mask for the poor dumb hopeless clowns.
Livin' in the clueless, inbred side of town,
I wear it for the governor who has told us it’s a crime,
But at least I’ve wrote myself a damn good rhyme.
I wear the mask for dolts who never read,
Or listened to the words that Fauci said
About the road to normalcy through responsibility,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.
Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
But every day’s a bit of highs and lows,
But just so we're reminded of the simple basic facts.
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Mask.
I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
Not to do so would reckless, so I’m told.
I wear the mask in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a thousand women and men
And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that their youth was on their side
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Cuz toothless hillbillies won’t swallow their pride.
Well, there's dummies who’ll never wear it, that I know,
Spreading the Coronavirus everywhere they go,
But I will tell you something, and you know that I am right,
They’re usually fat and middle aged and white.
Ah, I'd love to walk around maskless every day,
And tell the world the virus went away,
But I'll try to carry on with this one simple task
'Till there’s no virus, I'm the Man In Mask.
