As the National Football League celebrates its 100th season, there’s a special way for fans of the Jets and Giants, as well as the other thirty NFL clubs, to celebrate the centennial campaign in New York City. “A Century of Football: Celebrating the NFL’s 100th Season” is a free exhibit taking place at The Paley Center For Media through October 27th.
The exhibit includes a number of features for football fans of all ages including the Vince Lombardi Trophy on display, all 53 Super Bowl Rings, artifacts from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, gaming stations featuring EA Madden NFL 20, interactive trivia, arts and crafts for family and kids, a special NFL Photo moment for fans, and live screenings of NFL games in the state-of-the-art theatre.
“It’s a really great experience,” said Maureen Reidy, President and CEO of The Paley Center For Media. “If you love football, there’s nowhere else that you would want to be.”
The Paley Center has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the NFL and reached out to the league to see if they could work together on a tribute to the centennial season. After the NFL put their support to the project, they brought in the Pro Football Hall of Fame into the mix to form a partnership that brings a unique experience to football fans.
“Together, the three of us put together something that I think is really special,” said Reidy. “If you have kids or grandkids or you love football, this is the place to be.”
What is basically taking place at the Paley Center is a small slice of what it’s like to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. From a chance to see the trophy that the Super Bowl champion gets to hoist each year, to the championship rings, to live broadcasts of Jets and Giants games in the theatre with gameday concessions to create the feeling of tailgating in New York City, this exhibit combines football, family and fun.
“The centerpiece of the exhibit is the actual Lombardi Super Bowl Championship Trophy which is shining there in our gallery,” said Reidy. “It’s surrounded by the full collection of 53 Super Bowl Championship rings and then we brought in artifacts from the Pro Football Hall of Fame spanning 100 years. We have some iconic jerseys like (Terry) Bradshaw and (Joe) Namath and in addition we have a showcase of all 32 team jerseys.”
The exhibit is free of charge but tickets are available on a first come first serve basis for the event through October 27th. To RSVP for tickets and for more information about the NFL exhibit at the Paley Center please visit https://www.paleycenter.org/2019-nfl-100-exhibit-ny/.
Any football fan should visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but those who live in our area and root for the local teams or any of the other NFL clubs has a wonderful opportunity to experience a taste of football heaven during this limited run exhibit.
